Risk Consultant – Operational Resilience & Enterprise Risk

12-month FTC | London | 3 days per week in office | Immediate availability required

We are working with a leading UK investment management firm to appoint an experienced Risk Consultant to its second-line Risk function on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a broad Manager-level risk role, but operational resilience experience gained specifically within an asset or investment management environment is a prerequisite. We are therefore particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate hands-on experience of developing, embedding or overseeing an operational resilience framework within an investment manager.

The successful candidate will take meaningful ownership of the firm's operational resilience framework, including important business services and process mapping, impact tolerances, scenario testing, operational resilience MI and reporting, and oversight of business continuity and disaster recovery. They will also work with senior stakeholders and the firm's crisis-management arrangements to provide effective second-line assurance over resilience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Beyond operational resilience, the role offers considerable breadth across enterprise and operational risk, including risk and control assessment, oversight of operational risks and controls, KRIs, risk events, policy development and the continued evolution of the firm's second-line assurance framework. The position also incorporates elements of CASS oversight and broader regulatory risk activity.

There is an investment-risk dimension to the position. Candidates do not need to be investment-risk specialists, but should be comfortable operating within an investment environment and providing effective second-line oversight and challenge across areas such as liquidity, counterparty risk, leverage, pricing, stress testing and investment-risk models. The underlying JD also includes ICARA/Wind Down Plan activity and AIFMD Annex IV reporting.

The attraction of the role is its breadth and autonomy. The Risk team operates with a generalist model, giving the successful individual exposure across the wider risk framework rather than restricting them to a single discipline. The role reports directly to the Head of Risk and sits within the firm's second-line function.
