Interim Head of Events & Marketing

Fixed Term Contract, Maternity Cover (starting January 2027)

c£50k + Benefits

Introduction

The Investor Relations Society, the UK’s professional body for investor relations, is seeking an energetic, proactive Events & Marketing Executive to join our executive team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a varied role, and wants to play an important part in growing and nurturing a vibrant professional community. Working in a small, highly collaborative team, you’ll be central to delivering a programme of high-quality events, and responsible for the operational delivery of cross-channel marketing activity with a focus on digital channels.

We’re based at Birchin Court in the heart of the City of London. We operate a hybrid work structure, with two to three days a week in the office and increased presence around key events.

About the role

The Investor Relations Society is looking for an energetic, experienced, and highly organised individual to join its executive team as Head of Events & Marketing on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

The role is responsible for leading the planning and delivery of the Society’s annual events programme, comprising approximately 40 online and in-person events each year. This includes our two flagship events, the Annual Conference and the Best Practice Awards dinner, alongside webinars, networking events, breakfasts, dinners, and other member events.

The role also oversees operational delivery of the Society’s marketing activity and commercial partnerships, ensuring that our events, products, and services are supported by coordinated and engaging campaigns. They will develop relationships with sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, suppliers, and other external partners, while working closely with colleagues and the Society’s Events Committee.

The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between strategic planning, stakeholder management, and the practical delivery of events and campaigns. They will also contribute to the Society’s wider organisational planning and provide effective management and support to the Marketing and Events Executive.

An existing understanding of investor relations or financial markets would be advantageous, but we also welcome applicants with an interest in developing their knowledge of the sector.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
