Interim Head of Finance - 6-Month Contract

Location: Reading
Salary: £450-£600 per day
Contract Type: Inside IR35

Our Client:

An SME software business based in Reading is seeking an Interim Head of Finance for a six-month assignment, providing hands-on financial leadership and supporting commercial decision-making.

The Role:

Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will take ownership of the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, effective controls and clear visibility of business performance.

  • Lead day-to-day finance operations and oversee month-end reporting and management accounts.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow and working capital.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to assess revenue, costs and profitability.
  • Strengthen financial controls, reporting processes and management information.
  • Lead and support the finance team, overseeing statutory reporting and audit requirements.

About You:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with experience leading finance within an SME.
  • A hands-on approach, combining strong technical accounting with commercial judgement.
  • Software or technology sector experience, ideally with exposure to recurring revenue models.
  • Confident managing stakeholders and quickly establishing priorities in an interim assignment.
