Job Description
Head of Finance (Interim)
Location: Cardiff
Salary: Up to £80,000
Contract: Interim
Vargo is supporting a growing group with the appointment of an experienced, hands-on Head of Finance to join the business on an interim basis.
This is a senior finance role cover reporting into the SMT. The successful candidate will provide financial leadership while overseeing the day-to-day running of the finance function across three entities within the group. The role combines financial reporting, commercial support, controls, cash management and finance project delivery.
This is an office-based position, working from the company’s HQ.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly management accounts and board reporting across three entities.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and statutory compliance.
- Manage cash flow forecasting.
- Maintain strong financial controls, policies and governance frameworks.
- Oversee corporation tax calculations and submissions.
- Lead the day-to-day finance function, including transactional finance, payroll and month-end close.
- Deliver finance projects, systems improvements, process redesign and wider transformation activity.
- Act as the key finance contact for auditors, banks, advisors and external stakeholders.
- Present financial information clearly to senior leadership and board-level stakeholders.

About You
You will be a qualified accountant with previous experience operating at senior finance leadership level. You’ll be comfortable balancing strategic input with hands-on delivery and will have strong technical accounting, reporting, controls and team leadership experience.
