Interim Head of Finance

Reporting to: Founder / Senior Leadership Team
Working days and hours: Monday to Friday
Hybrid approach (office and remote): Hybrid
Salary Range: £130,000 - £140,000

This is a highly visible role for a strategic finance leader who can look beyond the numbers and help shape the direction of the business. You will play a key role in major commercial decisions, including funding strategy, business planning and long-term growth, while providing the financial insight needed to support informed decision-making.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the business, with the potential to develop into a CFO / VP Finance-level position as the organisation scales.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the overall financial strategy and planning for the business
- Act as a strategic finance partner to the Founder and senior leadership team
- Provide commercial insight and challenge to support major business decisions
- Lead FP&A, budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial planning
- Develop financial models and scenarios to support growth, investment and funding decisions
- Partner with the Founder on key commercial initiatives, including funding strategy and capital planning
- Provide clear, commercially focused reporting and insight to senior leadership
- Identify financial risks, opportunities and key business drivers, translating complex financial information into actionable recommendations
- Establish and develop financial controls, processes and reporting as the business continues to scale
- Work closely with the Finance Manager and wider finance function, providing leadership and direction
- Partner with external advisors, accountants, auditors and other stakeholders where required
- Support the development of the finance function, systems and infrastructure needed for the next stage of growth
- Contribute to wider strategic and commercial projects across the organisation

What You’ll Bring
- Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within a high-growth or scaling technology business
- Strong strategic finance and FP&A capability
- Proven experience partnering with founders, CEOs and senior leadership teams
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence major business decisions
- Experience in financial modelling, forecasting, scenario planning and business planning
- The ability to translate financial data into clear commercial recommendations
- Experience supporting or leading funding, investment or capital strategy would be highly advantageous
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, without becoming overly involved in day-to-day accounting
- A hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a rapidly evolving environment
- Experience within a regulated environment would be beneficial
- COFA experience or knowledge of the SRA regulatory environment would be advantageous, but is not essential
