Starfish Search is supporting a London Borough to appoint an Interim Head of Finance Business Partnering

This is an excellent opportunity to lead a high-performing finance business partnering function, providing strategic financial leadership across a broad range of services while supporting corporate decision-making, financial resilience, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Finance Business Partnering service across the organisation
  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior leaders and Members
  • Support the delivery of the Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS)
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial risk management
  • Develop financial insight and modelling to support strategic decision-making
  • Oversee the annual accounts process for service areas
  • Identify funding opportunities and drive value for money across services
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to support service transformation

About You:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ideally CIPFA)
  • Strong leadership experience within local government finance
  • Proven track record in finance business partnering and strategic financial management
  • Experience advising senior leaders and elected Members
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, financial planning, and governance
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A collaborative leader with a focus on continuous improvement and delivering outcomes
