Sewell Wallis are partnering with our client, a large well-known charity based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, as they look to appoint a Head of Finance Operations on a fixed term contract for 6 months.
We're looking for an experienced Interim Head of Finance Operations to join a newly restructured finance function and provide leadership, stability, and direction during an important period of transition.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced interim finance leader to make a genuine impact, supporting a newly defined team, developing two strong managers, and helping shape the next stage of the finance function following its recent transformation.
What will you be doing?
- Take full ownership of the Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger functions
- Lead transformation projects across the two ledgers
- Working closely with two highly capable managers who are deeply involved in the day-to-day detail
Your focus will be on bringing the teams together, nurturing talent, providing support through the transition, and ensuring the function operates effectively as the new structure beds in.

What skills do we need?
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong technical finance expertise
- Proven experience leading finance operations and supporting teams through change
- A confident, collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach and develop managers
- Someone who can step into a newly formed structure and quickly provide clarity, stability, and direction
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Experience with finance transformation, process improvement, or system upgrades would be a distinct advantage
- Knowledge of SUN Accounting or experience working through a major finance system implementation would be highly desirable
What's on offer?
