Job Advert: Interim Head of Governance, Assurance and Portfolio Delivery

Our client is seeking an exceptional Interim Head of Governance, Assurance and Portfolio Delivery to lead and enhance governance, assurance, and business operations within the Digital, Data, and Technology sectors. This exciting opportunity is based in the public sector and offers a daily rate of £650. The contract is for a full-time position lasting six months, with an immediate start date.

Key Responsibilities

As the Interim Head of Governance, Assurance and Portfolio Delivery, the successful candidate will have a wide-ranging portfolio and will be responsible for:

  • Leading the programme and project delivery functions to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Overseeing programme and project managers, enhancing accountability and transparency.
  • Governing major transformation and digital programmes, ensuring they meet strategic objectives.
  • Reporting on portfolio performance and managing benefits realisation.
  • Implementing robust improvement controls where delivery performance may be off-track.
  • Strengthening governance frameworks and organisational assurance, including risk, issue, and dependency management.
  • Providing strategic oversight of Information Governance and Data Protection, including Freedom of Information (FOI) and Subject Access Requests (SARs).
  • Managing the Digital spend and maintaining compliance with commercial governance and operational policies.

Candidate Profile

Our client is looking for an experienced interim leader with a proven track record in:

  • Programme delivery and governance, ideally in a public sector environment.
  • Effective management of Information Governance, FOI, SARs, and UK GDPR compliance.
  • Leading teams and driving performance improvements.
  • Engaging with regulatory bodies, including the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
