Interim Head of Health & Safety

Location: Central London
Duration: 6 months initially
Day Rate: £500 - £600 per day
Sector: Commercial Property

A leading commercial property business is looking for an experienced Interim Head of Health & Safety to take ownership of its health and safety strategy across a significant commercial property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the Health & Safety function across the property portfolio.
  • Develop and implement H&S strategy, policies, and governance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert advice to senior leadership, property, and facilities teams.
  • Oversee risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident management.
  • Manage and develop relationships with external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Drive a proactive health and safety culture across the organisation.
  • Report on H&S performance, risks, and key actions to senior management.

  • Proven experience operating at Head of Health & Safety / senior H&S level.
  • Strong background within commercial property, real estate, FM, or a similar built-environment environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience managing health and safety across a complex property portfolio.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at Board and senior leadership level.
  • Chartered or equivalent professional H&S qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma / CMIOSH) highly desirable.
