Role: Interim Head of HR

Remuneration: c. £80,000 pa, FTC

Contract: 6-9 months

Start: Mid-October

Location: Northamptonshire (full-time on-site during term time, with hybrid/remote flexibility during school holidays)

GatenbySanderson is partnering with an independent school seeking an experienced Interim Head of HR to join its senior leadership team for a fixed-term assignment.

Reporting to the Bursar, you will provide leadership to the HR function, ensuring the continued delivery of a high-quality people service whilst supporting the school through a period of transition.

Working closely with senior leaders and governors, you will act as a trusted adviser on all aspects of people management, employee relations, governance and compliance, whilst helping to shape the school's longer-term people and reward strategy.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A successful track record of leading HR functions within complex organisations.
  • Significant experience providing strategic HR advice to executive teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong employee relations, governance and compliance expertise.
  • Experience leading and developing HR teams whilst maintaining high-quality operational delivery.
  • A sound understanding of recruitment, safeguarding and workforce management within regulated environments.
  • Experience advising and implementing reward, remuneration and benefits frameworks.
  • CIPD qualified and/or CIPD member.

Experience within the education sector would be advantageous but is not essential. We are keen to hear from candidates who have operated in similarly public sector environments and can demonstrate a balance of strategic leadership and operational credibility.
