Do you have a track record of driving legal delivery in a fast-moving business?
Do you want to lead a high-performing legal team in a fast-scaling fintech business with real commercial impact? Are you ready to embed governance, process and technology whilst managing a diverse caseload across the business?
Who We Are
Modulr is the payments automation platform that streamlines money movement with accuracy, control and reliability — built to scale. We process more than 200m transactions and over £180bn in payment value on an annualised basis, and we're trusted by over 6,000 businesses from fast-growing SMEs to global enterprises.
We automate how money moves into and out of a business (payroll, supplier payments, spend management and payment collection) through a single platform, connected to the accounting and payroll systems finance teams already use, and underpinned by principal memberships of Visa and Mastercard and direct access to central bank infrastructure.
As a regulated payments provider with over a decade of experience, we're the platform finance teams trust to run mission-critical operations. Modulr is backed by PayPal, FIS, General Atlantic, Blenheim Chalcot, Frog Capital and Highland Europe, with over 400 employees across London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Mumbai.
What You'll Do
- Lead a team of four Legal Counsels (two Senior) as they grow to five with a Paralegal hire, managing workload allocation, priorities and development.
- Manage client and supplier contracts across banking, regulatory, technology, employment, marketing and property; handle dispute caseloads and business-wide data protection and regulatory support.
- Act as escalation point and strategic advisor for urgent or complex legal issues, serving as the first point of contact for leadership on legal matters.
- Drive governance, process design and tool enhancements; ensure the legal function has effective templates, systems and workflows embedded across the organisation.
- Ensure Modulr meets regulatory obligations, contracts efficiently with counterparties, and grows while managing risk appropriately.
- Work closely with business functions to deliver advice grounded in commercial reality, not legal theory alone.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
