Client Details
Our client is a leading environmental services business operating across the UK.
The organisation has experienced significant growth and is looking to appoint an Interim Head of Legal to provide senior legal support while it recruits into the position permanently.
This is a highly visible role working closely with the Board, executive leadership team and senior stakeholders across the business.
Description
The Interim Head of Legal will act as the organisation's senior legal adviser, providing practical and commercially focused advice across a broad range of matters.
Responsibilities will include:
- Advising the Board and senior leadership team on legal, commercial and strategic matters
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial contracts
- Supporting M&A activity, acquisitions and business integration
- Managing litigation, disputes and contentious matters
- Providing advice on employment law issues
- Advising on regulatory, compliance and governance matters
- Managing relationships with external legal advisers
- Supporting the business in assessing its longer-term legal requirements
- Helping to shape and develop the internal legal function, including the potential recruitment of a small legal team

This is a broad role requiring someone who is equally comfortable providing strategic advice and taking a hands-on approach to legal work.
Profile
The successful Interim Head of Legal will be a qualified solicitor with significant post-qualification experience.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience operating as a Head of Legal, General Counsel or senior in-house lawyer
- Broad commercial contracts experience
- Experience advising on litigation, employment and corporate matters
- Exposure to M&A transactions and business integration
- The confidence to advise Board-level and senior stakeholders
- A practical, commercial and solutions-focused approach
- The ability to operate independently as the organisation's senior lawyer
- Availability to start at short notice
