Interim Head of Property
East Midlands | 3 days onsite, 2 days home working
c. £500 per day (Inside IR35)
6-month assignment
MRG is supporting a respected non-profit organisation in the appointment of an Interim Head of Property to lead a strategic review of its property function and provide leadership across a diverse residential, heritage and land portfolio.
Reporting directly to the executive team, this is a high-impact interim opportunity for a senior property professional who can quickly assess current operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and help shape the future structure of the service ahead of a permanent appointment.

The Portfolio
- Approximately 135 properties, predominantly residential
- A significant number of properties are heritage assets requiring careful stewardship and investment planning
- Around 11,000 acres of land with future development potential
- Strategic land matters are outsourced by an external agent, requiring strong client-side leadership and stakeholder management
Key Priorities
- Conduct a strategic review of the property function
- Assess current structures, systems, processes and ways of working
- Review asset performance and identify opportunities for disposal, investment and optimisation
- Strengthen operational effectiveness and efficiency
- Lead and develop a small property team
- Manage key external advisers and professional consultants
- Support ongoing acquisition opportunities and wider estate strategy

We're Looking For
- Senior property leadership experience
- A track record of reviewing or transforming property functions
- Strong asset management expertise
- Experience managing residential and ideally heritage portfolios
- Excellent stakeholder and adviser management skills
- Exposure to land, estate management or development activities
- Proven leadership capability and a strategic mindset
- MRICS or MCIOB
