Interim Head of Tax – PE-Backed Business
We’re partnering with a fast-growing, PE-backed business that is going through an exciting period of growth and transformation to appoint a Head of Tax.
This is a broad, hands-on leadership role with responsibility for the entire tax agenda across the Group. Reporting into senior finance leadership and working closely with the wider business, investors, and external advisers, you’ll take ownership of the tax function and ensure it is fit for the next stage of growth.
The role will cover the full spectrum of tax, including corporation tax, VAT and indirect tax, employment taxes, international tax, transfer pricing, tax compliance and tax planning, alongside supporting wider commercial and transactional activity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

About you
We’re looking for an experienced tax professional who is comfortable taking end-to-end ownership of tax within a fast-paced business. You’ll ideally have broad experience across multiple areas of tax rather than being focused on one specialism, with the confidence to operate autonomously and advise senior stakeholders. Experience within a PE-backed, acquisitive, or high-growth environment would be particularly valuable, as would exposure to M&A and business transformation.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take genuine ownership of tax within an ambitious PE-backed organisation at an exciting point in its journey.
