Head of Technology Operations
6-Month Contract | £750–£850/day | Inside IR35
West Midlands | Hybrid (2-3 days on site)
We're looking for an experienced Head of Technology Operations to lead a critical IT function within a complex, defence-related environment.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of operational technology services, lead a sizeable team, and drive improvements across infrastructure, end-user services, and IT operations.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the UK Technology Operations function across infrastructure, service delivery, and end-user support.
- Manage and develop teams across infrastructure, networking, end-user computing, and project delivery - 15+ reports.
- Improve operational maturity, governance, and service performance.
- Partner with cyber security teams to maintain secure and compliant technology environments.
- Oversee infrastructure modernisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage suppliers, budgets, and senior business stakeholders.
- Act as the senior technology leader for UK operations while collaborating with global IT teams.

Essential experience
- Previous experience leading Technology Operations, Infrastructure, or IT Operations functions.
- Strong leadership experience within enterprise IT environments.
- Defence, aerospace, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Proven people leadership and stakeholder management.
- Strong vendor and supplier management experience.

Non-Negotiable Requirements
- Active SC Clearance (or higher). Applications without active SC Clearance cannot be considered.
- Experience working within defence or secure government environments.
Contract Details
- £750–£850 per day
- Inside IR35
- Initial 6-month contract
- Hybrid working – 2/3 days per week on site West Midlands
