Interim Head of Technology
6-month FTC - £73,000 Pro rata
Hybrid - Travel to London (twice a month)
We are partnering with a well-established UK organisation with a strong social purpose, supporting thousands of people and their families across the country. Technology will play an important role in supporting these ambitions.
The role
We are looking for an experienced Interim Head of Technology to provide strategic and operational leadership across the technology function.
You will act as the organisation's senior technology expert and trusted adviser to senior leadership.
- You will lead a technology team of around 14 people, with three direct reports, and oversee technology infrastructure, business systems, cyber security, architecture, service delivery, suppliers and technology governance.
- Working closely with the Head of Digital and Head of Data & Insight, you will help develop and deliver an integrated Technology, Digital and Data roadmap, ensuring technology investment supports organisational priorities and delivers measurable value.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the organisation's technology strategy
- Lead technology operations, infrastructure, business systems and service delivery
- Lead and develop the technology team
- Provide strategic technology advice to senior stakeholders
- Oversee technology architecture, applications and systems integration
- Drive service improvement and operational performance
- Ensure appropriate cyber security, governance, risk and resilience
- Manage technology suppliers and outsourced services
- Support digital transformation, automation, AI and emerging technology initiatives
- Ensure technology services are secure, resilient, scalable and fit for purpose
- Support organisation-wide transformation and business improvement

Requirements
You will be an experienced senior technology leader with a strong track record of leading technology, digital or information systems functions.
You will have experience of:
- Developing and delivering technology strategies
- Leading multidisciplinary technology teams
- Technology infrastructure, business systems, cyber security and service delivery
- Organisation-wide transformation and technology modernisation
- Technology governance, risk management and resilience
- Managing third-party technology suppliers
- Building effective relationships with senior stakeholders
- Translating complex technical issues into clear business priorities
- Balancing strategic leadership with operational delivery
- Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector
