Interim Housing Service Manager
Location: East Sussex | Working Model: Hybrid
Compensation: Β£650 per day
Working Hours: 4 days per week | Up to 40 paid weeks
Start Date: As soon as possible
Are you an experienced interim housing leader looking for a high-impact assignment with an attractive four-day working week?
We are supporting a local authority seeking an Interim Housing Service Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership during a period of organisational transition.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Director of Resources and Section 151 Officer, you will lead a broad housing portfolio covering:
- Housing needs, advice and solutions
- Homelessness prevention and temporary accommodation
- Allocations and housing register management
- Rough sleeping and resettlement initiatives
- Housing development and enabling
- Service performance, improvement and transformation

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can quickly establish credibility, provide stability, and maintain excellent outcomes for residents while addressing complex operational and statutory challenges.
Key Requirements
We are keen to speak with interim professionals who offer:
- Senior local authority or social housing leadership experience
- In-depth knowledge of homelessness, housing needs and allocations
- Strong command of Housing Act 1996 Parts VI and VII
- Experience leading service improvement and performance
- Confidence advising senior officers and elected Members
- A recognised housing qualification, ideally CIH Level 4 or above

This opportunity may suit an experienced Head of Housing, Assistant Director of Housing, Housing Operations Manager, or Housing Needs and Homelessness Lead who is available at short notice.
