Interim HR Process Transformation Lead – SAP S/4HANA / SuccessFactors
Circa £1,250 per day – Outside IR35
Interim (Full-Time) – 8–12 Months
Hertfordshire
We are partnering with a major FTSE-listed organisation on a significant HR Transformation programme as it prepares for the next stage of a major SAP-enabled Hire-to-Retire transformation.
We are looking for a highly experienced HR Process Transformation Lead to lead a critical discovery, diagnostic and roadmap phase across the end-to-end Hire-to-Retire (H2R) landscape. This includes Core HR, Recruitment, Onboarding, Talent, Performance, Learning & Development, Employee Data, Analytics, Time & Attendance and Payroll.
This is not a general HR Change, HRIS, PMO, Programme Management or SAP/SuccessFactors implementation role. We specifically need someone who has previously led a comparable business-side HR Process Transformation within a major SAP-enabled environment and can demonstrate this clearly.
The Role
Working closely with senior HR and Transformation leadership, you will:
- Lead HR discovery and diagnostic activity across Hire-to-Retire processes, systems and data.
- Assess the current HR operating model, identifying process pain points, inefficiencies, risks and value opportunities.
- Help define the future-state HR processes and operating model.
- Identify opportunities for standardisation, simplification, automation and improved use of data.
- Bring together findings across Core HR, Recruitment, Talent, Performance, Development, Time & Attendance, Payroll and associated systems.
- Challenge recommendations from external consultancies, advisers and System Integrators.
- Ensure future HR processes align appropriately with SAP S/4HANA and SuccessFactors best practice, challenging unnecessary customisation.
- Identify critical transformation enablers including data harmonisation, master-data governance, process standardisation and technical-debt reduction.
- Develop a sequenced, value-prioritised HR Transformation roadmap.
- Build value frameworks and high-level business cases to support investment decisions.
- Establish transformation governance, success measures and value tracking.
- Translate the roadmap into an execution-ready resourcing, costing and mobilisation plan.
- Engage and influence senior HR, Transformation and Executive stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Essential experience – please read before applying
To be considered you must be able to demonstrate:
- Previous responsibility for leading the discovery / diagnostic / roadmap stage of a major SAP-enabled HR Transformation.
- Deep end-to-end Hire-to-Retire Process Transformation experience – not simply HR change management, HRIS implementation, programme delivery or technology transformation.
- Strong process knowledge across Core HR, Recruitment, Onboarding, Talent, Performance, Development, Time & Attendance and Payroll.
- Experience of current-state assessment, future-state process/operating-model design, process optimisation and standardisation.
- Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA and SuccessFactors and the dependencies between HR processes and systems.
- Sufficient SAP/SuccessFactors knowledge to challenge proposed solutions, process designs and unnecessary customisation, rather than relying entirely on technical specialists.
- Experience working with and challenging Tier 1 consultancies / major System Integrators.
- Experience turning discovery findings into a prioritised HR Transformation roadmap and/or business case.
- Strong commercial judgement around value-based prioritisation, benefits and investment decisions.
- Experience operating within complex, multi-vendor enterprise environments.
- Credibility operating with senior HR and Executive stakeholders.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Please do not apply solely because you have worked on a SuccessFactors / SAP implementation or have general HR Transformation or Change experience.
We need someone who has personally helped shape what the future HR function should look like, identified what needs to change and why, and translated this into a credible, prioritised transformation roadmap and business case, while being capable of challenging how SAP/SuccessFactors should enable it.
Your application
Due to the specific nature of this assignment, please ensure your CV includes:
- Your specific SAP-enabled HR / Hire-to-Retire Process Transformation experience, including the organisations/programmes where you gained it.
- Whether you have personally led discovery / diagnostic and transformation roadmap activity and exactly what you delivered.
- Your experience across Core HR, Recruitment, Talent, Performance, Development, Time & Attendance and Payroll.
- Your S/4HANA and SuccessFactors experience.
- Your experience managing/challenging external consultancies or System Integrators.
- Your current location and ability to work from St Albans as required.
- Your availability / earliest start date.
- Your required day rate.
- Confirmation of your right to work in the UK, including whether you require sponsorship or are subject to any restrictions.
To be considered, your CV must clearly demonstrate the essential HR Process Transformation experience outlined above.
