Interim HR Project Manager
Interim HR Project Manager to join a fast-paced organisation for an initial six-month FTC.
This is a varied, delivery-focused role with a broad HR transformation remit. You'll take ownership of several business-critical projects, including reviewing the organisation's contractor population and IR35 approach, implementing Right to Work changes across contractors and temporary workers, and supporting a significant business integration.
Client Details
An organisation in the technology and telecoms industry with an office in Leeds. This is a remote role however.
With a sizeable and varied workforce, including permanent employees, contractors and temporary workers, the business is focused on strengthening its people infrastructure while ensuring its operating model remains commercially effective.
It is an environment where priorities move quickly, so this opportunity will suit someone comfortable navigating ambiguity, getting up to speed rapidly and delivering tangible outcomes without needing everything to be perfectly defined from day one.
Description
Working closely with Head of HR and business stakeholders, you will lead and support a portfolio of priority HR projects, including:
- IR35 and contractor governance: Review the organisation's current IR35 approach, identifying any areas requiring improvement and helping establish a robust, practical framework for the future.
- Contractor estate review: Conduct a detailed review of the contractor population, identifying opportunities to improve governance, challenge existing arrangements and reduce overall cost without compromising business-critical capability.
- Right to Work: Lead the implementation of relevant Right to Work changes and processes across the contractor and temporary worker population, ensuring the organisation has a clear and consistent approach.
- Business integration: Play a key role in the integration of an acquired business, developing a detailed understanding of existing bonus, benefits and reward arrangements.
- Harmonisation: Support the assessment and development of options for the harmonisation of reward, benefits and broader people arrangements, balancing employee experience, commercial considerations and organisational objectives.
- Project delivery: Build clear project plans, establish priorities and dependencies, manage risks and ensure key activities remain on track.
- Stakeholder management: Work confidently with HR, Finance, Procurement, Legal and business leaders, bringing together different perspectives and driving decisions.
- Broader HR projects: Pick up additional people-related projects as priorities evolve throughout the assignment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Profile
We're looking for an accomplished HR professional who combines strong project management capability with broad HR expertise and commercial judgement.
You're likely to have:
- Significant experience delivering complex HR projects, ideally within a large or changing organisation.
- Strong knowledge of contractor workforce management and IR35, with experience reviewing or improving contractor arrangements particularly valuable.
- Experience working with Right to Work processes, ideally covering temporary or non-permanent worker populations.
- Previous involvement in M&A, business integration or people harmonisation projects.
- A good understanding of Reward, Compensation and Benefits, particularly bonus and benefits structures, without necessarily being a pure Reward specialist.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the confidence to identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence senior colleagues across HR and the wider business.
- A pragmatic, hands-on approach. You'll be comfortable moving between strategic thinking, detailed analysis and practical delivery.
- The ability to quickly make sense of complex information and bring structure to areas where the answer isn't immediately obvious.
