HR Advisor - Fixed Term Contract

An opportunity for an HR Advisor to support a local business in Newcastle-under-Lyme on a fixed-term contract until March 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your change management, recruitment and systems knowledge and experience. Restructure and merger experience would be beneficial. Job Description for the HR Advisor

As the HR Advisor, you will:

  • Advise and support in managing the cases on the full range of routine and complex employment relations issues, including investigations, disciplinary, grievance, absence, flexible working, and case management, identifying business risks and advising the stakeholders accordingly.
  • Support and coach managers with the effective and efficient performance of their employees, identifying and facilitating appropriate interventions through the performance management processes.
  • Be involved with a variety of projects including change management, re-organisation, restructure, and mergers.
  • Manage and develop the recruitment process when required, liaising with People Services colleagues to ensure a smooth, effective, and efficient recruitment service to all stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of People Services policies and procedures, taking the lead on specific projects from scoping to implementation, including colleague health surveillance services via Occupational Health.
  • Provide information and advice to managers and colleagues on terms and conditions, policies and procedures, and current employment legislation. Including employment law updates to all managers in the business.
  • Coordinate individual consultation on a range of employee relations matters such as the ending of fixed-term contracts, redeployment, variation of terms and conditions, TUPE transfers, and restructuring.
  • Manage the provision of colleague metrics information and reports including absence, identifying trends and potential solutions.
  • Analyse information to identify issues and trends to provide effective People services solutions/projects/initiatives.
  • Support the development of the systems, processes, and records, taking day-to-day responsibility for the management of specified areas.
  • Support the harmonisation and integration of any new companies.

Candidate Requirements

  • CIPD CPP / CHRP qualified would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience working at HR Advisor/People Service Advisor level with experience in projects.
  • Experience across change management, systems, HRIS, mergers, or re-organisation is essential for the role.
  • Experience of conducting individual consultation meetings on a range of employment relations matters (e.g., ending fixed-term contracts; redeployment; variation of terms and conditions; TUPE transfers; restructuring).
  • Experience working at HR Advisor level and managing complex employee relations cases (discipline, sickness absence, capability, investigations).
  • Experience of providing comprehensive management information reports through generation and analysis of data from HR and Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Strong MS Office skills with the ability to use MS Excel to analyse and manipulate data.
  • To be able to pass a DBS check.

Additional Information

  • This role is commutable from: Newcastle under Lyme, Stoke on Trent, Keele, Congleton, Stone, Crewe, Kidsgrove, Congleton, Leek, and surrounding areas.
  • This role would suit candidates with the following experience: HR Advisor, People Services Advisor, People Advisor, HR & Projects.
  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 37 Hours per week, Mainly remote working with occasional travel to Newcastle under Lyme.
  • Salary: £38,830.05 per annum.
  • Location: Mainly remote working with occasional travel to Newcastle under Lyme.
