Interim Insurance Manager

Contract: Interim contract
Start: Immediate
Duration: Until February/March 2027
Location: Central London (hybrid)

The Interim Insurance Manager will act as the central point of contact for insurance matters globally, working closely with senior stakeholders, regional and country leadership teams, project teams, brokers, and insurers.

The role will lead the annual insurance renewal process, coordinate claims activity, support project-specific insurance requirements, and ensure the company insurance programme remains aligned with its risk profile, operational requirements, and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Global Insurance Programme

  • Take day-to-day ownership of the company global insurance programme across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate insurance requirements across international operations, ensuring appropriate coverage is maintained and local requirements are addressed.
  • Work with regional and country leadership teams to understand local insurance requirements, regulatory obligations, and market considerations.
  • Ensure local policies and placements are appropriately aligned with the company global insurance strategy and programme structure.
  • Act as the central liaison between the business, brokers, insurers, and other insurance stakeholders.
  • Identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities to improve the effectiveness, consistency, and efficiency of the company's global insurance arrangements.
  • Monitor the company's overall insurance position and escalate material issues, risks, or gaps to the General Counsel.

Insurance Renewal & Placement

  • Lead and coordinate the company's annual insurance renewal process through the February/March renewal cycle.
  • Develop and manage a detailed renewal plan, ensuring key milestones, submissions, meetings, information requirements, and decisions are delivered on time.
  • Coordinate the collection, review, and consolidation of underwriting information from across the company.
  • Prepare high-quality underwriting submissions and renewal presentations that clearly communicate the company's risk profile, controls, operations, financial position, and business strategy.
  • Coordinate insurer and underwriter engagement throughout the renewal process.
  • Support negotiations with brokers, insurers, and underwriters to achieve appropriate coverage, terms, and commercial outcomes.
  • Ensure renewal decisions and actions are clearly documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Broker, Insurer & Underwriter Relationships

  • Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with brokers, insurers, and underwriters.
  • Organise and coordinate insurer and underwriter meetings across the company's global operations.
  • Ensure appropriate participation from business leaders and operational stakeholders at key market meetings.
  • Ensure the company is consistently and effectively represented to the insurance market.
  • Monitor broker performance and provide the General Counsel with insight and recommendations on broker effectiveness, market engagement, and service delivery.
  • Support the General Counsel in assessing and selecting appropriate brokers, insurers, and insurance markets as the company's requirements evolve.

Claims & Ongoing Insurance Management

  • Coordinate significant insurance claims and act as a key point of contact between the business, brokers, insurers, and relevant advisers.
  • Monitor claims activity and ensure appropriate progress, escalation, and communication.
  • Support the business in understanding and applying insurance requirements and policy coverage.
  • Maintain appropriate records of the company's insurance policies, placements, claims, and key insurance documentation.
  • Provide advice and practical support to internal stakeholders on insurance-related matters.

Project & Business Support

  • Support project teams with insurance requirements arising from new projects, contracts, acquisitions, investments, or changes to the company's operations.
  • Review insurance requirements associated with material commercial arrangements and projects.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Finance, Risk, Procurement, and operational teams where insurance input is required.
  • Provide practical, commercially focused insurance guidance to senior stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an experienced insurance professional who can quickly establish credibility, take ownership, and operate autonomously within a complex international organisation.

You will ideally have:

  • Demonstrable experience managing multinational insurance programmes across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Significant experience coordinating insurance requirements across international operations.
  • A proven track record of independently leading large-scale insurance renewal projects and delivering successful placement outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance markets and multinational insurance programmes.
  • Experience presenting to, negotiating with, and building relationships with insurers and underwriters.
  • Experience developing compelling underwriting submissions and renewal presentations.
  • Strong broker management and market engagement experience.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, deadlines, and workstreams simultaneously.
  • The confidence and credibility to engage with senior business leaders, brokers, insurers, and underwriters.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to understand and communicate complex insurance matters clearly.
  • A proactive, pragmatic, and hands-on approach, with the ability to work independently and make progress in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to quickly understand a complex organisation, its risk profile, and its international operating model.

Contract & Timing

This is an immediate-start interim opportunity, expected to run through the company's February/March 2027 insurance renewal cycle, with the anticipated contract duration being until February/March 2027.

The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership quickly and provide continuity throughout the critical renewal period, ensuring the company is well positioned with brokers, insurers, and underwriters and that the renewal process is delivered effectively.
