Interim Legal Counsel – Technology / SaaS – 1 month assignment. 4+ PQE
We are working with a growing technology business that is looking to engage an experienced Interim Legal Counsel for a short-term assignment to provide cover within its legal team.
The business provides SaaS technology solutions predominantly to the healthcare sector, with its products widely used across the NHS. The assignment will start in mid October and would suit a commercial lawyer who is comfortable operating autonomously within a small and fast-paced in-house legal function.
The successful lawyer will take responsibility for a broad range of day-to-day commercial legal matters, with a particular focus on customer contracts and SaaS agreements. The business handles a significant volume of customer contracting each month, so the ability to review, draft and negotiate agreements efficiently and pragmatically will be important.

There will also be a data protection element to the role, including reviewing and marking up Data Processing Agreements and advising on matters relating to controller and processor relationships. The successful individual should also be comfortable picking up general ad hoc legal queries as required.
Previous experience within the healthcare sector, particularly working with NHS contracts or NHS contracting frameworks, would be highly advantageous but is not essential. Candidates with strong technology or SaaS sector experience will also be considered.
The business is based in London, with ideally 2-3 days per week in the office, particularly to support onboarding and collaboration. There is, however, some flexibility.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales or another commonwealth jurisdiction (such as Australia and/or New Zealand)
- Ideally upwards of 4 years’ PQE in handling commercial legal matters
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating customer and commercial contracts
- Previous experience negotiating SaaS agreements
- A good working knowledge of data protection matters, including DPAs and controller/processor relationships
- The ability to operate autonomously and confidently within a small legal team
- Healthcare and/or technology sector experience, with exposure to NHS contracting frameworks would be particularly advantageous
- Availability to commit to the assignment from mid October onwards.

A competitive daily rate is on offer, and the assignment will operate inside IR35.
