Location: Sheffield
Working Mode: Hybrid (1-2 days in the office)
Contract: 3 months; with the possibility to extend
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 9AM - 5PM

The Role

We’re looking for a Management Accountant who is not only technically skilled but also a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment. This is a pivotal role within our finance team — perfect for someone who enjoys taking ownership, spotting opportunities for improvement, and driving change.

You’ll handle core month-end and reporting processes, but you’ll also play a hands-on role in shaping financial decision-making, implementing smarter ways of working, and helping us build a more digitally focused finance function.

  • Taking ownership of month-end procedures
  • Delivering variance analysis with insightful commentary
  • Managing purchase and sales ledgers
  • Handling bank and account reconciliations
  • Overseeing the central contracts store
  • Preparing VAT returns and liaising with HMRC
  • Supporting audits as needed
  • Leading cashflow forecasting and monitoring

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within finance (required)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong IT skills (Excel essential; Financial Force desirable)
  • A reactive, proactive mindset — able to take initiative and adapt quickly
  • Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Able to build strong working relationships with staff at all levels
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication, analytical, and reporting skills

Qualifications

  • Recognised professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
