Interim Marketing Director – UK retail business
A well-known UK retail business is seeking an Interim Marketing Director to lead its brand and communications agenda through a pivotal phase of transformation and growth. Having grown substantially in recent years with ambitions to double in size again, the business is shifting from a performance-led marketing model to one combining world-class brand building with commercial effectiveness. Reporting to the Chief Customer Officer, this highly visible role offers genuine influence over brand strategy and marketing capability at a defining moment for the business.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve brand strategy, positioning, and the long-term creative/communications platform
- Translate strategy into an integrated annual communications and trading calendar
- Lead brand planning and campaign development across all customer touchpoints
- Build a scalable marketing playbook and lead key agency relationships
- Partner with commercial and customer teams to align communications with business priorities
- Influence acquisition strategy and broader customer growth initiatives
- Establish measurement frameworks for marketing and brand performance
- Champion innovation, including AI, and drive transformation of the marketing operating model
