An exciting opportunity for an experienced Interim Network Engineer to join a global engineering business on a 6-month Inside IR35 contract.
Working in an enterprise environment, you will support critical network infrastructure across the UK and EMEA, delivering network modernisation, site expansion and infrastructure improvement projects while ensuring the security, performance and availability of business-critical services.

Description
As the Interim Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, support, and optimisation of enterprise network infrastructure. Working closely with regional IT teams, you'll provide both BAU support and project delivery across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure across UK and EMEA locations.
- Troubleshooting network performance, availability, and security issues.
- Delivering network improvement and infrastructure refresh projects.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, and SD-WAN solutions.
- Managing network changes through ITIL-aligned change management processes.
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Supporting manufacturing and operational technology environments.
- Working with ServiceNow, Jira and other project management tools.
The role will be based at the Derby HQ, ideally 5 days per week. Travelling to sites across the UK as required.
You'll gain exposure to a broad range of technologies including:
- Cisco Routing & Switching
- Cisco Wireless
- Cisco ISE
- Infoblox
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- HPE Aruba EdgeConnect (Silver Peak) SD-WAN
- Enterprise WAN and MPLS environments
- Datacentre networking technologies
- Operational Technology (OT) and manufacturing systems
Profile
We're looking for an Interim Network Engineer with strong enterprise infrastructure experience and a passion for delivering reliable, secure network services.

Key skills and experience:
- CCNA certified as a minimum (CCNP highly desirable).
- 5+ years' experience in network engineering roles.
- Strong Cisco routing and switching experience.
- Expertise with OSPF, EIGRP, BGP and other routing protocols.
- Experience with WAN technologies and SD-WAN solutions.
- Knowledge of VPN technologies, IPSEC and network security.
- Experience supporting Cisco and/or Palo Alto firewall environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and network analysis capabilities.
- Wireless networking design and support experience.
- Exposure to datacentre networking and Cisco Nexus technologies would be advantageous.
Job Offer
Daily rate of £450 to £500, dependent on the level of experience.
Temporary position offering flexibility and project-based experience.
6 month contract (likely extension).
