Handle is currently recruiting for an Interim Payroll Administrator with a rapidly growing international retailer. The business is expanding quickly, with significant growth planned, and the Payroll team is growing to support that expansion across UK & EMEA.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys working with data, solving queries, and making sure the detail behind payroll is accurate and under control.
Importantly, this isn't a role where you'll physically run the payroll.
The role
You'll support the wider Payroll function across a range of administrative, data, and vendor-related activities.
Key responsibilities:
- Check and validate payroll data
- Maintain and update employee records
- Manage the payroll inbox and respond to queries
- Investigate discrepancies and follow up on issues
- Maintain payroll and vendor records
- Liaise with outsourced payroll providers
- Support payroll audits and data requests
- Complete payroll checks and reconciliations
- Support joiners, leavers, and employee changes
- Work across UK & EMEA payroll activity
- Assist with process improvements and wider payroll projects

What we're looking for:
- 1-2+ years' payroll experience
- Good understanding of payroll administration and data
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable working with Excel and large amounts of data
- Experience managing queries or a busy inbox
- Confident communicating with internal teams and external vendors
- Organised and able to manage competing priorities
- Proactive approach to investigating and resolving issues
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
- Experience with outsourced payroll providers and/or EMEA payroll would be a bonus
