About the Role
We are looking for an experienced People & Culture Generalist to join our team on a maternity cover basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a CIPD-qualified HR professional who enjoys employee relations work and wants to make a meaningful impact within a values-driven Charity.
You'll provide professional HR advice and support to managers and employees across the charity, leading on a range of employee relations matters and helping to ensure fair, consistent and legally compliant people practices.
Working closely with the Employee Relations Specialist, you'll take ownership of day-to-day case management, enabling the wider People & Culture team to focus on strategic projects and organisational development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a range of employee relations cases including:
- Investigations
- Disciplinary processes
- Grievances
- Performance management
- Probation reviews
- Conduct issues
- Informal employee concerns
- Restructure consultations
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are applied consistently and in line with employment legislation.
- Support with the HR inbox and respond to manager and employee ER queries.
- Support payroll administration through accurate and timely submission of employee changes.
- Assist with organisational change activities, policy reviews and HR improvement projects.
- Coordinate training activity and support compliance with mandatory learning requirements.
- Maintain accurate HR records and case documentation.

About You
You will be a confident and pragmatic HR professional who is comfortable managing a varied caseload and building trusted relationships with managers at all levels and is able to prioritise accordingly.
Essential requirements:
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in a generalist HR and ER role.
- Strong employee relations case management experience.
- Good understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently whilst recognising when to seek support.

- Experience within the charity, healthcare or not-for-profit sector.
- Experience supporting organisational change and consultation processes.
