We are supporting a client in the South with the appointment of an experienced Interim Programme Director of Medium-Term Finance to lead a high-profile financial sustainability and transformation programme.
This is an initial 6-month contract focused on supporting long-term financial planning, strengthening financial resilience, and driving sustainable improvement across the organisation.
The successful candidate will bring significant experience from local government, the wider public sector, or consulting environments, with a proven track record of leading complex financial transformation programmes, delivering substantial savings, and driving organisational change. You will be a credible strategic leader, capable of working effectively with senior stakeholders and elected members, while identifying and implementing practical solutions to financial challenges.

Essential Experience
- Extensive experience leading financial sustainability, transformation, savings, recovery or improvement programmes within local government or a similarly complex public sector environment.
- Strong understanding of medium-term financial planning and budget management.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering significant financial improvements, efficiencies and organisational change.
- Experience operating successfully at Executive Director, Chief Officer or equivalent level.
- Ability to influence, challenge and build confidence with senior stakeholders.

Key Details
- Initial 6-month contract
- c. £700-£750 per day
- Hybrid working arrangement with regular on-site presence required
- Start date: ASAP
