Hays Senior Finance Interim & Contract team are partnering with a highly successful, fast-growing Bristol business to appoint an experienced Interim Project Accountant.

With turnover approaching £100m, the organisation is entering an exciting period of transformation, growth and change. As they prepare for both budget season and year-end, the CFO and Head of Finance are seeking an experienced finance professional who can provide hands-on support across financial accounting, reporting and business-critical projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, ambitious business where you'll gain exposure to senior stakeholders and play a key role during a pivotal stage of the company's growth journey.

The Opportunity

  • 6-month interim assignment
  • Central Bristol location - we are ideally looking for candidates based in Bristol/Bath or local surrounding areas for this assignment
  • Hybrid working (2 days office / 3 days remote)
  • High-growth business approaching £100m turnover
  • Significant exposure to CFO and senior leadership team
  • Exciting period of transformation, change and growth
  • Immediate requirement
  • Teams-based interview process

  • Successful candidate expected to start within one week

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting month-end close and financial reporting activities
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and planning processes
  • Preparing for year-end and external audit requirements
  • Delivering high-quality balance sheet reconciliations and control reviews
  • Supporting finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Working closely with the CFO, Head of Finance and wider leadership team
  • Providing technical financial accounting support across the business
  • Assisting with ad-hoc projects, reporting improvements and process enhancements
  • Supporting the delivery of key finance objectives during a period of significant change and growth

About You

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong financial accounting and reporting background
  • Previous interim, contract or project accounting experience
  • Comfortable operating within fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Experience supporting businesses through growth, change, transformation or systems projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proactive, adaptable and able to hit the ground running
