The Role
We are supporting a well-known national not-for-profit organisation undergoing a significant VAT compliance and transformation programme following a change in the VAT treatment of a core revenue-generating service.
This is a business-critical interim assignment focused on implementing new VAT processes, managing a substantial retrospective VAT exercise, and supporting customer communications during a period of significant change.
Working closely with the finance team, you will help deliver a large-scale VAT remediation project requiring the review and correction of historic invoicing activity, while also ensuring the organisation successfully transitions to a new VAT operating model moving forward.
This is a highly hands-on role requiring someone comfortable working across finance operations, stakeholder management, compliance, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Review large volumes of historic transactions and identify invoices requiring VAT corrections.
- Support the reissue of VAT invoices and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements.
- Work with finance teams to validate invoice accuracy, accounting treatment, and supporting documentation.
- Manage communications with key customers and stakeholders regarding VAT changes and invoice queries.
- Support credit control activities to maximise cash collection and minimise payment delays.
- Produce guidance and training materials to support organisational understanding of new VAT requirements.
- Respond to internal and external VAT queries and maintain FAQ documentation.
- Assist with data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting using Excel.
- Help establish robust processes and controls for future VAT invoicing and compliance.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure consistent application of VAT treatment across the organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
