Overview

We are seeking an experienced Interim Registered Manager to lead and oversee a children's residential home in Colchester, Essex. The service operates using a trauma-informed and trauma-based care model.

This assignment offers an opportunity to provide leadership and operational oversight within a well-established service that was most recently rated Good by Ofsted.

The successful candidate will bring previous Registered Manager experience within a similar trauma-informed children's residential setting and be available to commence at short notice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and management of the residential home.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care in line with the home's trauma-informed approach.
  • Maintain compliance with Ofsted requirements, children's home regulations, and safeguarding standards.
  • Lead, support, and develop the staff team to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Monitor and maintain quality assurance processes and care standards.
  • Promote positive outcomes and effective care planning for children residing within the service.
  • Manage risk appropriately while ensuring children's safety and wellbeing remain paramount.
  • Liaise effectively with local authorities, social workers, families, and external professionals.
  • Prepare for and respond to regulatory inspections and monitoring visits.
  • Ensure the home continues to operate in accordance with its Statement of Purpose and regulatory obligations.

Essential Requirements

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Registered Manager within a children's residential home.
  • Direct experience working within a trauma-informed and trauma-based care model.
  • Experience managing children's residential services subject to Ofsted regulation.
  • Track record of maintaining regulatory compliance and positive inspection outcomes.

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Children's Homes (England) Regulations and Quality Standards.
    • Safeguarding legislation and procedures.
    • Ofsted regulatory requirements.
    • Trauma-informed approaches to supporting children and young people.
