We are working with a Private Equity-backed professional services business that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Head of Finance on an initial six-month interim contract.

This is a senior, hands-on role offering significant exposure to the CFO, senior leadership team and Private Equity stakeholders. The successful candidate will take ownership of the finance function and play a key role in driving financial performance, reporting and commercial decision-making.

The Role

As Senior Head of Finance, you will provide strong financial leadership across the business, ensuring robust financial control while delivering high-quality reporting, forecasting and commercial insight.

You will operate as a trusted partner to the senior leadership team and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment where pace, accuracy and commerciality are critical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day finance function
  • Own the monthly management accounts and financial reporting process
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning
  • Provide clear commercial analysis and insight to the leadership team
  • Develop and improve financial reporting, controls and processes
  • Manage cash flow, working capital and financial performance
  • Prepare reporting and analysis for the Private Equity investor
  • Support the CFO and senior leadership team with strategic and commercial decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational performance
  • Lead and develop the finance team
  • Support ongoing business transformation and finance improvement initiatives
  • Provide robust financial governance and ensure appropriate controls are maintained

About You

We are looking for a confident and commercially minded finance leader who can quickly establish credibility and make an impact in an interim environment.

You will ideally have:

  • ACA qualification from a leading accountancy practice or equivalent
  • Significant experience in a senior finance leadership / Head of Finance role
  • Previous experience within a Private Equity-backed business
  • Professional services experience is highly desirable
  • Strong technical accounting and financial control knowledge
  • Excellent budgeting, forecasting and management reporting experience
  • Strong commercial and analytical capability
  • Experience preparing information for CFOs, boards and PE investors
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A hands-on, pragmatic approach and the ability to operate effectively in a changing environment
  • The ability to quickly assess a finance function, identify priorities and drive improvements
