Interim Senior Head of Finance

We are working with a Private Equity-backed professional services business that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Head of Finance on an initial six-month interim contract.
This is a senior, hands-on role offering significant exposure to the CFO, senior leadership team and Private Equity stakeholders. The successful candidate will take ownership of the finance function and play a key role in driving financial performance, reporting and commercial decision-making.
The Role
As Senior Head of Finance, you will provide strong financial leadership across the business, ensuring robust financial control while delivering high-quality reporting, forecasting and commercial insight.
You will operate as a trusted partner to the senior leadership team and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment where pace, accuracy and commerciality are critical.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day finance function
- Own the monthly management accounts and financial reporting process
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning
- Provide clear commercial analysis and insight to the leadership team
- Develop and improve financial reporting, controls and processes
- Manage cash flow, working capital and financial performance
- Prepare reporting and analysis for the Private Equity investor
- Support the CFO and senior leadership team with strategic and commercial decision-making
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational performance
- Lead and develop the finance team
- Support ongoing business transformation and finance improvement initiatives
- Provide robust financial governance and ensure appropriate controls are maintained
About You
We are looking for a confident and commercially minded finance leader who can quickly establish credibility and make an impact in an interim environment.
You will ideally have:
- ACA qualification from a leading accountancy practice or equivalent
- Significant experience in a senior finance leadership / Head of Finance role
- Previous experience within a Private Equity-backed business
- Professional services experience is highly desirable
- Strong technical accounting and financial control knowledge
- Excellent budgeting, forecasting and management reporting experience
- Strong commercial and analytical capability
- Experience preparing information for CFOs, boards and PE investors
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- A hands-on, pragmatic approach and the ability to operate effectively in a changing environment
- The ability to quickly assess a finance function, identify priorities and drive improvements
