An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to lead privacy and AI governance within a large international organisation undergoing significant digital transformation.

This is a strategic role with high visibility across the business, partnering with senior stakeholders to enable innovation, manage risk, and ensure compliance in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

Duration: 3-6 months

Location: London, hybrid working

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop global privacy and AI governance programmes.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on data protection, privacy, AI, cybersecurity, and technology-related matters.
  • Partner with senior leaders across technology, security, governance, marketing, HR, and innovation teams.
  • Oversee privacy operations including policies, assessments, incident management, training, and compliance activities.
  • Support the implementation of data and AI initiatives by providing pragmatic, risk-based legal guidance.
  • Monitor emerging regulatory developments and ensure frameworks evolve accordingly.
  • Advise on regulatory investigations and complex privacy-related matters.

About You:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with 10+ years’ experience in privacy and data protection law.
  • Proven track record advising on complex privacy, technology, digital, and AI-related matters.
  • Must have a strong understanding of global data protection, cybersecurity, and emerging AI regulations.
  • Experience developing and managing governance and compliance programmes within a multinational environment.
  • Commercially minded, pragmatic, and comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Previous in-house experience preferred.
