Chalk Hill Group are working with a well-established professional services business, based in Berkshire, to recruit an Interim Personal Senior Tax Manager to provide additional support through a particularly busy period, helping the team navigate year-end and upcoming tax deadlines until January 2027.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced personal tax professional who can quickly get up to speed, manage a portfolio of clients and provide additional capacity to the existing team.
The Role:
You will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring compliance work is delivered accurately and on time while providing high-quality advice and support.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients, overseeing their tax affairs and ensuring all relevant compliance deadlines are met.
- Reviewing and preparing Self Assessment tax returns, including more complex returns involving areas such as property, investments, capital gains and higher-income individuals.
- Providing technical support and guidance on UK personal tax matters, identifying issues and opportunities for clients where appropriate.
- Supporting the wider tax team through the year-end period, helping to manage workload, deadlines and client queries.
- Liaising directly with clients and internal stakeholders, building strong relationships and providing clear, commercially focused advice.
- Reviewing work produced by junior members of the team and providing guidance where required.
- Assisting with ad hoc personal tax projects and queries as they arise.

About You:
We are looking for an experienced Personal Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager who can make an immediate impact in an interim capacity.
You will ideally have:
- Strong experience within UK personal tax, ideally gained within an accountancy or professional services environment.
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of personal tax clients.
- Strong knowledge of Self Assessment and UK personal taxation.
- Experience reviewing tax returns and dealing with more complex personal tax affairs.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
- The ability to work independently and hit the ground running in an interim environment.
- ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent qualification would be advantageous, although relevant experience will also be considered.
