Interim Senior Privacy Counsel | Life Sciences & Healthcare Data
A highly innovative, publicly listed life sciences organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Privacy Counsel to join its legal and compliance team on an interim basis.
Operating at the forefront of healthcare innovation and data-driven research, the organisation is looking for a senior privacy specialist to help lead and enhance its global privacy programme during a critical phase of growth.
This role would suit a lawyer with significant experience advising on data protection and privacy matters within the pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, healthcare or clinical research sectors.
The Role
Working closely with senior legal and compliance leadership, you will:

- Provide strategic advice on global privacy and data protection matters
- Support and develop the organisation's global privacy framework and governance programme
- Advise on GDPR, UK GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA and international privacy requirements
- Partner with clinical, R&D, commercial and technology teams on the use of sensitive health and patient data
- Lead privacy assessments, cross-border data transfer matters and risk mitigation initiatives
- Support privacy incident response, investigations and regulatory enquiries
- Review and negotiate data protection provisions, DPAs and related contractual arrangements
- Drive privacy-by-design principles across business operations and new initiatives
Candidate Profile
We're interested in speaking with lawyers who have:

- 10+ years' experience in privacy, data protection or technology law
- Strong knowledge of global privacy regulations, including GDPR and healthcare-related data requirements
- Experience supporting or leading enterprise privacy programmes
- A background in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, life sciences, clinical research or healthcare
- Experience advising on clinical trial, patient, research or other sensitive health datasets
- Excellent stakeholder management and business partnering skills
- Privacy certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM or similar are advantageous.
