Job Description
The primary focus of the position will be to work closely within the Proposals department to assist in management of proposals projects, including writing, proofreading, copy editing, and production. The candidate will be a strong and assertive strategic thinker, with a track record of producing compelling pitches to secure high-value artworks, and experience dealing with senior executives and stakeholders.
The individual must develop a keen ability to formulate and shape narratives within the Phillips brand voice, and will be responsible for the production of bespoke documents and presentations (both digitally and in hardcopy) for top client business-getting in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Previous experience in the art/auction world is essential to success in this role. Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite — InDesign in particular — and Microsoft Office, alongside excellent IT skills.
The Proposals department develops business-winning pitches for consignments, through the execution of precisely written and designed documents. The team is responsible for overseeing proposal requests from internal clients across all departments: Modern & Contemporary Art, Design, Editions, Photographs, Jewels, and Watches.

While the role can be remote, we prefer candidates who can work in the UK or European hours to cover the Europe and Asia region.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write, proofread, edit, and finalize each proposal with the approval of the specialist department
- Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice
- Manage and execute the writing, research, and execution of these strategies, structuring key points into a cohesive and compelling argument, supported by imagery and infographics where appropriate
- Work closely with specialist sale teams and marketing managers to present the marketing campaign for high-level business with an emphasis on Phillips’ unique storytelling and narrative capabilities
- Manage and complete multiple projects efficiently under time-sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Partner with colleagues and internal clients to establish priorities and execute deadlines
- Manage and execute the creation of supplementary material where necessary, including but not limited to agenda documents, presentations, brochures, packaging, emails, and on-screen presentations
- Work with the Creative and Production departments to coordinate and manage all aspects of proposal production
- Perform any other duties as requested

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of relevant experience within the art and auction world
- Excellent writing, editing, and business communication skills
- Strong, positive interpersonal skills
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality work
- Ability to work both independently as well as in a matrixed environment, collaborating with production staff, specialist staff, and executive staff
- Meticulous attention to detail and follow-up skills essential
- Strong analytic skills with the ability to use data to craft a compelling story to help drive business-getting efforts
- Team-oriented and collaborative, including with remote team members
- Working knowledge of InDesign necessary
- Work closely with colleagues in the US and Europe, ensuring worldwide coverage
- Computer literacy required, specifically knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite a plus
