Interim Senior Risk & Assurance Consultant
Social Housing
North East of England
£500-£600 per day
Outside of IR35 | (Ltd company & umbrella company welcome)
3–6 months
2 days worth of work per week
Meet the team on site then move to a remote assignment
This isn’t a “hold the fort” assignment. Social Housing or Highly Regulated Public Sector experience will be required i.e Higher Education, Charity, Local Authority.
We're supporting a large social housing provider seeking an experienced Risk & Assurance Consultant to assess its current arrangements, bring structure to key improvement work and help build a function fit for the future.

The brief will include:
- Conducting a focused risk and assurance needs assessment
- Developing a clear, prioritised improvement plan
- Refreshing risk frameworks, processes and reporting
- Strengthening assurance mapping and lines of defence
- Improving risk ownership across senior leadership and service directors
- Progressing business continuity and resilience activity
- Turning recommendations into practical, sustainable improvements

We’re looking for an established consultant who can quickly understand a complex organisation, build trusted relationships and deliver with pace without arriving with a generic, off-the-shelf framework.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Deep enterprise risk and assurance expertise
- Social housing or comparable regulated-sector experience
- Strong internal audit and three-lines understanding
- Board, Executive and senior stakeholder credibility
- Experience improving systems, reporting and risk maturity
- A pragmatic, diplomatic and hands-on consulting style
