A well-established, internationally operating business is looking for a senior Interim Tax Manager to lead the stabilisation and improvement of its SOX control environment across UK and US operations. This is a 12-month engagement, hybrid working with 2 days per week in the London Cambridge office, and a genuine opportunity to leave a control framework that outlasts your time on the assignment.
The role
The tax function sits within a US-listed group currently going through a period of control improvement, and this role is being brought in to own that process. You will assess the current SOX control environment, identify where it's falling short, lead remediation, and build a standardised, repeatable framework, documentation, and RACM that can be handed over with confidence at the end of the engagement. You'll operate at a senior level, working closely with stakeholders across the UK and US tax teams and reporting into group leadership on progress. The priority is SOX controls, with tax reporting providing the underlying context, expect roughly 60-70% of your time on controls design, operation, and remediation, with the remainder on tax reporting responsibilities.

What you need
You'll bring a substantial tax background combined with hands-on SOX controls experience gained within the tax function of a US-listed entity, ideally having led on designing or remediating controls rather than simply operating within an existing framework. Tax reporting experience under US GAAP or IFRS is required, and genuine multinational exposure across UK and US operations is important given the scope of the role. This suits someone who has run a tax governance agenda before and wants to apply that experience where it will have immediate, visible impact.
