Freelance Midweight Designer – Vectorworks
Location: Hybrid
Contract: Freelance, 1 month (Outside IR35)
Start Date: October 2026
We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Technical Designer with strong Vectorworks capability to support a leading design-focused team on an immediate project requirement.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-to-senior level technical designer with proven experience delivering retail and F&B projects, who is confident taking design intent and developing it into clear, accurate, and buildable technical information.
The Role
Working closely with the design team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering technical drawing packages through RIBA Stages 3 and 4.
The main priority is to translate design intent into well-resolved technical information, ensuring the design is accurately communicated through coordinated drawings and technical packs.
You will be comfortable working autonomously, managing your own workload, and liaising with the wider design team to resolve technical issues and develop information to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
- Producing detailed technical drawing packages using Vectorworks
- Developing design information through RIBA Stages 3 and 4
- Producing and coordinating GA drawings
- Producing detailed joinery drawings and information
- Incorporating and coordinating HVAC information within drawing packages
- Translating design intent into clear, practical, and buildable technical solutions
- Coordinating information across relevant disciplines
- Identifying and resolving technical issues during the design development process
- Working closely with designers, consultants, and other project stakeholders
- Maintaining a high level of accuracy, consistency, and presentation across technical packs
About You
We are looking for a mid-to-senior level Technical Designer with a strong background in delivering detailed technical information within a design-led environment.
Essential experience:
- Strong Vectorworks skills and demonstrable professional experience using the software
- Proven experience working across RIBA Stages 3 and 4
- Solid experience delivering retail and F&B projects
- Experience producing technical packs, including GA drawings, joinery detailing, and HVAC information
- A strong understanding of technical detailing and construction information
- The ability to interpret and develop design intent, rather than simply produce drawings
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to technical documentation
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a wider design team
- Strong communication and coordination skills
