AUTOMOTIVE TRIM DEVELOPMENTS LIMITED (ATD) is a full-service supplier of interior trim assemblies to a wide range of vehicle manufacturers, from niche OEMs to high-volume luxury brands. The company designs and manufactures interior components such as seats, door panels, instrument panels, consoles, load space systems, and head linings. All assemblies are engineered in-house using modern design tools and manufactured with the latest production technologies. In addition to interior trim, ATD develops electro-mechanical assemblies and luxury accessories, offering end-to-end solutions from concept through to production. Team members collaborate closely with leading automotive customers to deliver high-quality, innovative interior solutions.
Role Description
The Interior Trim Lead Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Coventry Area. This role is responsible for leading the engineering design and development of interior trim components and assemblies, from concept through to production release. Day-to-day tasks include:

- Creating and reviewing CAD models and drawings
- Conducting design studies and feasibility assessments
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and purchasing
- Coordinating project timelines
- Managing technical documentation
- Supporting customer meetings, design reviews, and issue resolution

The role also involves:
- Overseeing prototype build activities
- Validating designs through testing
- Driving continuous improvement in product performance, manufacturability, and cost
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with proven experience in interior trim or related automotive components.
- Proficiency in Machine Design principles, including materials selection, tolerance analysis, and mechanisms relevant to interior assemblies.
- Advanced skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for 3D modeling and 2D detailing of complex trim parts and assemblies.
- Demonstrated ability in Project Management, including planning, tracking milestones, and coordinating cross-functional activities.
- Experience in Research and Development (R&D), with the ability to explore new materials, processes, and design concepts for interior systems.
- Knowledge of automotive industry standards, manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, trimming, assembly), and quality requirements.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Relevant engineering degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience in automotive engineering.
- Ability to work on-site in the Greater Coventry Area and occasionally travel to customer or supplier locations as needed.
