THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

For this role, we are looking for a hands-on and focused engineering consultant who can uphold EDC’s approach to quality-driven success. Ideally, you will have 3 years’ Building Services Consultancy Design experience and will be a competent user of Amtech, Relux/Dialux with BIM experience advantageous, and you must be able to deliver detailed designs from RIBA stages A to F.

  • Fulfil Electrical design work as required, working to project deadlines.
  • Provide quality control for your own work before release to senior engineer.
  • Champion change in new systems and technologies.
  • Assist modellers to produce detailed working drawings in 3D and scheme drawings.
  • Develop project scope with design team / client.
  • Produce budgets and reports for clients.
  • Representing EDC at client meetings as required.
  • Follow EDC’s Environmental Management System (EMS), including all related policies, procedures, and training.
  • Perform duties in a manner that supports the company’s environmental objectives and sustainability commitments.

Work-from-home arrangements are to be agreed with the line manager. The current expectation is a minimum of three days’ office attendance per week, with flexibility to balance business and personal needs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of Electrical Building Services Consultancy Design experience.
  • Proficient user of the following:
    • Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint etc.)
    • Autodesk Applications (AutoCAD/Design Review)
    • Amtech, Relux or Dialux
    • Building Information Modelling (BIM) experience will be advantageous.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Experience of delivering detailed designs through the full design cycle.
  • Good knowledge and experience in the following Electrical design areas: Lighting & Emergency Lighting, Small Power & Data, Fire alarms, CCTV & Intruder Alarms, MV/LV Power Distribution, Containment and BMS.
  • Excel at working on several projects simultaneously & show the ability to prioritise and plan work.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities whilst working flexibly as part of a team.
  • Ability to make prompt, disciplined project decisions.
  • Excellent attention to detail & interpersonal skills
