The Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer will support the design and delivery of mechanical building services on a variety of residential and commercial projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing mechanical system designs, performing engineering calculations, preparing technical drawings and specifications, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders such as architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines. The role involves participating in project meetings, contributing to designs aligned with RIBA stages, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and supporting sustainable, cost-effective solutions that meet client requirements. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Runcorn, with opportunities to work on projects across the UK.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering, with practical experience in building services or related fields.
- Proficiency in Machine Design and Product Design, including the ability to develop robust, efficient, and maintainable mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for producing detailed drawings, layouts.
- Relevant engineering degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering) or equivalent professional qualification.
- Familiarity with UK building regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and RIBA design stages, along with an understanding of sustainable design principles.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Progress toward or interest in professional registration (e.g., IEng or CEng) with an appropriate engineering institution is an advantage.
