We are seeking an Intermediate Platform Engineer with a background in cloud infrastructure services, automation and modern engineering practices. You will work with AWS technologies to build, maintain and enhance cloud platforms through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines and operational automation.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver and support cloud infrastructure and platform services.
  • Investigate and resolve infrastructure, platform and application performance issues.
  • Design, implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Participate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations and modernisation initiatives.
  • Contribute to the reliability, availability and security of platform services.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and reduce operational effort.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.
  • Contribute to incident, problem and change management activities.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, tools and approaches that could improve platform capabilities.
  • Utilise AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity, automation and operational efficiency.

About You

  • Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles and tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve infrastructure and platform issues in a timely manner.
  • Experience planning and independently delivering infrastructure tasks, upgrades and migrations.
  • Understanding of cloud networking, security and identity management concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Kiro, GitLab Duo, Microsoft Copilot or similar technologies to support software development, infrastructure automation and operational activities.
  • Ability to effectively leverage AI-generated outputs while applying sound engineering judgement and technical validation.
  • Interest in adopting emerging technologies that improve engineering productivity, automation and platform capabilities.
  • AWS certifications such as Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate are desirable.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.

The salary for the role of Platform Engineer for our Platform Engineering Squad 3 pays up to £42,000 p.a., providing a fantastic opportunity as level 3, for career progression through CDL’s clearly defined career framework (https://progression.cdl.co.uk/).
