Gap Construction are proud to be representing a successful, Cambridge-based construction consultancy in their search for an Assistant / Intermediate Project Manager to join their growing team and support projects across the St Albans area.

With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality project management, cost management and building surveying services, our client works across a diverse range of sectors throughout the region. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an ambitious Project Manager to their team who is keen to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant or Intermediate Project Manager looking for increased responsibility, exposure to varied projects and clear progression opportunities. The role will involve working across project sites, with an expectation of attending the Cambridge office one to two days per week.

Performance Objectives

  • Assist in the delivery of construction projects from inception through to completion across all RIBA stages
  • Support Senior Project Managers with project planning, programming, reporting and client updates
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors and design teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Attend client, design and site meetings, preparing accurate minutes and action trackers
  • Monitor project progress, identifying risks and supporting successful delivery against programme, cost and quality expectations
  • Assist with contract administration, procurement and tender processes where required
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and contractors
  • Ensure projects are delivered in line with health and safety, quality and statutory requirements
  • Attend the Cambridge office one to two days per week to support collaboration and team development

Person Specification

  • Degree qualified in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Previous experience within a construction consultancy, contractor or client-side environment
  • Good understanding of the construction project lifecycle and RIBA stages
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Keen to develop a long-term career within project management
  • Working towards, or interested in achieving, professional chartership (APM, RICS or similar)
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred
