Quantity Surveyor

Location: Northampton

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Sector: Commercial Fit-Out & Interior Refurbishment

A growing and ambitious fit-out contractor delivering high-quality commercial, retail, hospitality, and workplace interior projects across the UK. Due to continued expansion, we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Northampton-based team and support the successful commercial delivery of multiple fit-out projects.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of fit-out projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with Project Managers, clients, and subcontractors, you will oversee procurement packages, manage project costs, and ensure commercial objectives are achieved whilst maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial aspects of multiple fit-out projects simultaneously.
  • Prepare, review, negotiate, and manage subcontractor packages and orders.
  • Procure and manage subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Produce cost plans, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
  • Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Manage variations, change control, and valuation processes.
  • Prepare and submit interim applications for payment.
  • Assess subcontractor applications and process payments.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Support project delivery teams with commercial advice and cost management.
  • Maintain accurate project records and provide regular financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.

Requirements

Essential

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the fit-out, interiors, refurbishment, or construction sector.
  • Proven experience managing subcontractor packages.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience working on commercial office, retail, hospitality, or interior fit-out projects.
  • Knowledge of JCT contracts.
  • RICS membership or working towards chartership.
