Position: Intermediate Quantity Surveyor
Location: Luton
Employment: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Shellmar Construction Ltd is looking for a commercially focused Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team.
Applicants must live in Bedfordshire or within a reasonable commuting distance of our Bedfordshire office.
As a main contractor, we deliver refurbishment, fit-out, new-build, groundworks, and demolition projects across the retail, hospitality, leisure, education, and public sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing cost plans, budgets, and valuations
- Managing subcontractor enquiries, comparisons, and appointments
- Assessing variations and managing change control
- Monitoring project costs, forecasts, and cash flow
- Preparing interim applications and final accounts
- Supporting contract administration and commercial reporting
- Working closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Main-contractor quantity surveying experience
- A relevant degree or professional qualification
- Approximately 3–5 years’ industry experience
- Good knowledge of JCT contracts
- Strong commercial, negotiation, and communication skills
- Experience supporting projects from pre-construction through to final account
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- A full UK driving licence
- Be based locally in Bedfordshire or the surrounding area
