About the Role
A growing Building Services consultancy is looking to appoint an Intermediate / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding Manchester team. They are offering the opportunity to join an experienced team with direct communication into the Senior Leadership team for support and technical help while also requiring only 1 day a week in the office – which is prime real estate in central Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit consultancy where you'll have genuine influence over projects, work directly with experienced Directors and play a key role in the continued growth of the business. With a strong pipeline of secured work and long-term client partnerships, you'll enjoy a varied workload across both design and technical consultancy services.

Unlike larger consultancies, you'll be exposed to the full project lifecycle and work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors, giving you real autonomy and responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Delivering Mechanical Building Services designs across all RIBA stages.
- Producing calculations, reports, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Using CAD/Revit confidently to produce and coordinate your own designs.
- Carrying out engineering reviews, validations, and technical assessments.
- Liaising directly with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Supporting the delivery of multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high technical standards.
Requirements
- Experience within a Building Services consultancy.
- Strong Mechanical Building Services design knowledge.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Competent using AutoCAD and/or Revit to produce your own designs.
- Comfortable taking ownership of projects and communicating directly with clients.
- A collaborative approach with the confidence to ask questions and contribute ideas.
