Intern Civil Engineer - 2027 - London
We’re excited to open applications for our 2027 summer placement. This is your opportunity to gain 8-10 weeks in a placement where you’ll gain hands-on experience and have the support of mentors who care about your growth. You’ll develop the technical and interpersonal skills to help you succeed and make a lasting impact.
As an Intern Civil Engineer, you will become part of our Building team over the summer, part of an operating unit delivering award-winning public-sector projects including Bath Spa University, the Royal London Hospital, and Bristol schools. In the private sector, we focus on commercial and mixed-use buildings. Our London expertise has contributed to a portfolio featuring some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks, such as The Gherkin and Heron Tower. Together, we are building a better society by shaping the future with innovation and purpose.

What You'll Do
- Be involved with planning and producing methodologies for mobilising and setting up sections of work
- Utilise surveying skills to set out details for construction
- Work with closely with subcontractors
- Site coordination and logistical planning to enable works to be carried out safely
- Identify the needs for temporary works and completing temporary work designs working with the temporary works team
- Produce accurate and detailed daily diaries for your work areas
- Work collaboratively with enabling teams, for example in Traffic Management, Earthworks, Utilities and Community Relations
- Support with the completion of environmental risk assessments for works and assist in managing works activities in an ecologically sensitive manner

What You'll Bring To The Role
- You are currently in the process of achieving an ICE accredited degree in Civil Engineering, and are seeking a placement year as part of your course
- Enthusiastic about learning, personal and professional growth
- Able to take information from drawings to implement efficient planning services to the business
- Able to communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences
- You have a strong interest in innovation, sustainability and making a positive impact
- You work collaboratively towards shared goals and targets
- You are motivated to work in site-based environment
