What you’ll be responsible for
Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water has a vision to foster thriving communities by providing world-class water services. We know that thriving communities also involves future generations having the knowledge and understanding to make informed choices about the world around them. Through our education programme, we help young people understand the role water plays in our lives, communities and environment - while exploring how small actions can make a big difference. Our education programme has been in place for over 25 years and over 900,000 pupils have been involved in our sessions.
Business in the Community (BITC) recently concluded that Dŵr Cymru is clearly creating social value in their work in education outreach by creating tangible benefits – impacting those who participate in the programme by raising awareness of water-related issues, including blockages, resource use, and biodiversity.
Our ambition is to continue to educate and inform as many children as possible across our operational area about water and good water practice.
Our education team includes teachers and education professionals who are passionate about supporting the delivery of the curriculum through experiential, hands-on learning activities. The team supports over 80,000 pupils every year at both our Discovery Centres and through outreach visits to schools. We are offering a fantastic 12-month internship opportunity for a Newly Qualified Teacher to join our Education Team, helping us inspire pupils across Wales while developing their own teaching practice in a unique industry setting.
What you will be responsible for:
- Delivering the education programme through outreach visits to schools and at our education centres. This consists of assemblies, workshops and outdoor environmental lessons
- Liaising with schools and educational establishments to support in managing school bookings and educational activities.
- Development of new resources and activities linked to the National Curriculum and to key business campaigns
- Supporting the safe delivery of educational visits at Cilfynydd Education Centre.
- Support in the delivery of regional projects and partnerships to build additional social value in the areas we are working.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
