Overview

About the Role & Team

IDC’s Telecom Research team is looking for a Satellite Research Intern to support our coverage of one of the fastest-evolving areas in global connectivity: the convergence of terrestrial and satellite networks. As CSPs forge new partnerships with satellite operators and explore direct-to-device and non-terrestrial network services to extend and diversify their networks, our research helps clients navigate this shift with confidence. Working alongside senior analysts on our global CSP research team, the successful candidate will gain hands-on exposure to a niche but rapidly growing segment of the telecom industry, contribute directly to published research, and build a strong foundation in technology market analysis at IDC.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor and track developments in the satellite communications and non-terrestrial network market, including low-earth-orbit constellations, direct-to-device services, and the convergence of terrestrial and satellite networks
  • Support senior analysts in researching and drafting market analyses, forecasts, and reports covering the satellite strategies of communications service providers and satellite operators
  • Track and summarize partnership announcements, investments, and regulatory developments involving CSPs, satellite operators, and hyperscale cloud providers (hyperscalers)
  • Conduct secondary research using company filings, press releases, and industry sources to support market sizing and forecast models
  • Help prepare presentations, briefing documents, and data visualizations for research publications and client interactions
  • Maintain trackers of key satellite industry announcements, launches, and CSP-satellite initiatives to support the wider research team
  • Provide general research support to the Telecom Research team, including note-taking, meeting summaries, and follow-up on analyst inquiries and vendor briefings

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
